5G Studio

In 2020, Verizon and Newlab launched the 5G Studio to support the development of next-generation industry applications built on Verizon's 5G Ultra Wideband network.
Participants in the first cohort of the 5G Studio were given the opportunity to pilot their technologies on Verizon's 5G Ultra Wideband and Mobile Edge Compute (MEC) at Newlab's headquarters in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Leveraging access to 5G capabilities and Newlab's advanced prototyping resources and product realization support, the participants were able to showcase their technologies to address challenges across the healthcare, mobility, energy, and automation industries.

Launched in 2018, the Circular City Studio, is a program established with support from NYCEDC, encourages entrepreneurs to reimagine urban environments and help New York City address short, medium, and long-term challenges facing our city.
In 2020 this Studio empowered engineers, inventors, and entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds to pilot technologies that support NYC's sustainability agenda and rethink energy, waste, and recycling systems in New York City.
Newlab selected Aclima, Algramo, and Sapient Industries from a pool of worldwide applicants to pilot their technologies in real-world environments. The companies tested technologies that monitor air pollution's hyperlocal effects, sustainably and safely distributed cleaning products, and managed buildings' electricity usage while providing insights and services that will better prepare New Yorkers for critical challenges.
