Digital Scanning Capture
NEWLAB envisioned a digital studio using nothing but the finest lighting and capture equipment to help Artists, Designers and Galleries record the subtle nuances and essence of their art. While researching different lighting scenarios our in house photographers and technicians found a technique to capture and enhance the look of dimensionality in your editions. With our high end capture package you will receive a certified proof that you can send along with the digital file to ensure correct prepress separations.
NEWLAB's experience and equipment knowledge allows you to create digital reproductions that rival and potentially exceed the look of the original. NEWLAB combines museum-quality Better Light fine art copy system with specially developed HDI North Lights to provide the ultimate in capture. The system is designed for paintings and one-of-a-kind originals while the HDI lights meet museum standards for UV emission and high-light output to ensure your original receives the ultimate in color fidelity.
Drum Scans
For high resolution transparency scanning, there is no better scanner on the planet than the Heidelberg S 3900. Capable of a true 18,000 dpi scan, our S3900 will capture every shadow, highlight detail and subtle gradations in your original. We can scan 35mm to 20X24 transparencies, prints or flexible art work. If you want to make the very best Fine Art prints from your original transparencies, there is no better way to go.
For high resolution color negative drum scans we offer our Heidelberg Primescan. Grain build up in color neg scanning has been a common problem for even the best drum scanners. However, the Primescan diminishes this build up thanks to software built in to the scanner.
If you prefer, our expert pre-press technicians will consult with you to determine your file size to produce the finest quality hi-res scans for your printing or archiving needs. All our drum scans are fluid mounted on the drum to minimize scratches and dust, and every piece of film scanned has its white and black point determined to optimize the scan. No shortcuts here. File sizes range from 50mb to 1 GB+.
Durst Sigma Plus
The Sigma produces one of the finest automatic film scans available. Scans from the Sigma closely rival those made on many mid-range drum scanners. The true benefits of the Sigma come from its film transport, high resolution sensor, and intelligent quality enhancing software. Equipped with digital ICE and GEM, the Sigma will automatically remove dust and scratches on-the-fly and reduce grain build-up on color negatives. The Sigma will accept 35mm, 120 and 4x5 transparency, color & B&W negative formats.
Flatbed
Flatbed scans will closely match your original in both color and density. These scans are normally used to copy flat reflective or transparent materials for position only purposes (FPO). For an additional charge the scan can be cleaned up to remove dust or scratches.
Fuji Frontier
Fuji Frontier scans are machine scans which are perfect for digitizing your transparencies or negatives for the web. Two file sizes are available 7mb and 16mb. The 16mb file is sized for printing an 8x10 at 300 dpi. The 7mb file is sized for printing a 4x6 at 300 dpi. Pricing for these scans is based on our per roll basis of 36 exposures for 35mm film and 16 exposures for 120mm film. For an additional fee we can rename the files to your specifications.
